“Human beings need three basic things in order to be content: they need to feel competent at what they do, they need to feel authentic in their lives, and they need to feel connected to others. These values are considered "intrinsic" to human happiness, and far outweigh "extrinsic" values such as beauty, money, and status.”
― Sebastian Junger, from his book,
It’s a well-known and accepted fact that no great undertaking can be managed alone. If we're being honest with ourselves, not many small ones can either. The only reason that slow, clawless, hairless, upright apes with dulled teeth and poor hearing even made it to the top of the food chain is because we developed, very early on in our evolution, skills of cooperation that were unlike any other creature on this inarguably hostile paradise. The hero’s journey itself is not even possible without the aid of companions, either in the journey itself, or in the preparation for it.
I know for a fact that I have only gotten as far as I have because I’ve had wonderful friends and inspiring mentors to help me get through the toughest of trials. This page features links to the websites and social media profiles of those I’ve encountered along my journey who I believe could potentially help you along yours, arranged by category.
