Matt Basso - Process Oriented
For the first interview on the podcast, I did a live stream with Matt Basso on 3/19/19.
Matt Basso is a personal trainer and Wim Hoff Method instructor. In this interview Matt explains who Wim Hoff is, what his method can do for you, why it can be described as a “controlled high”, and how he got into doing it.
We discussed his first podcast, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Will Farrell, and how he named his company. We also spoke about the value of obstacles and mistakes, the difference between the hero of the story and a NPC, and the importance of being okay with the unexpected and loving the challenge.
Matt is a man of many talents and varied tastes. In high school he was on the football and chess teams, but went to a music college, and toured the country with a band.
Him and I took a moment to reflect on the fact that while he was raised in an environment that engendered his naturally competitive nature, and I was raised in an environment that discouraged it at every turn, we both had to still go through the trials necessary to develop our abilities. This highlights the truth that it’s not circumstances that dictate our lives, but our own choices.
Matt says that his experiences have made him “process oriented”. He has learned that flexibility is more important than goals, and he does his best to teach that lesson to his clients.
